Network Engineer

Position Overview:
The Network Engineer Performs a variety of network engineering tasks, either independently or under supervision, which is broad in nature and is concerned with the design and implementation of integrated networks, including personnel, hardware, software, and support facilities and/or equipment. This person plans and performs network-engineering research, design development, and other assignments in conformance with network design, engineering and customer specifications.

Essential Job Functions:

• Responsible for design, planning, cost modeling and implementation of network facilities and network systems and infrastructure to include, but not limited to, leased facilities, microwave systems, switched access, traffic routing and fiber transport.
• Develop network plans for deployment, expansion and growth of transport infrastructures.
• Perform cost modeling and economic analysis for network systems.
• Manage network assurance, redundancy and connectivity network signaling systems such as SS7 signaling.
• Perform and maintain traffic studies to determine future infrastructure build-out requirements.
• Manage network infrastructure build-out, provide equipment specifications and manage equipment installation.

Education and Experience

• B.S. in Electrical engineering, Electronics, Communications/ Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent degree with 2-3 years of experience or an M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Communications/ Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent degree with 1 year of experience.
• Indepth knowledge of network components, signaling protocols, trunking, network design, troubleshooting and optimization of switching systems.
• Practical experience with E1, T1, T3 and fiber optic testing and UNIX platforms.
• Strong theoretical knowledge of PSTNs, multiple access wireless networks.
