Senior Network Engineer


Position Overview:
The Senior Network Engineer Performs a variety of network design and troubleshooting tasks, either independently or under supervision, which is broad in nature and is concerned with the network performance. Duties to include: network analysis, network design, bandwidth studies and latency calculations. This person plans and performs WAN optimization, network-engineering research, design development, and other assignments in conformance with network design, engineering and customer specifications.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsibilities related to management of routers include configuring and updating routing protocols, Access Control List (ACLs), Policy routes, VLAN ACLs, HSRP, VRRP, VPN tunnels, etc.
  • Responsibilities related to LAN switching include configuring VLANs, spanning tree, etherchannel, 802.1q trunks, content switching, etc.
  • A thorough understanding of routing protocols to include BGP and OSPF.
  • Extensive knowledge debugging problems related to communications protocols to ensure optimal network performance.
  • Experience with software such as DNS, DHCP, WINS, VLANS, and Active Directory


Education and Experience

  • B.S. in Electrical engineering, Electronics, Communications/ Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent degree.
  • 3-5 years of applicable work experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of network components, signaling protocols, trunking.
  • Practical experience with network design, troubleshooting and optimization of switching systems E1, T1, T3 and fiber optic testing.
  • Strong theoretical knowledge of PSTNs, multiple access wireless networks.
